Description of Coriander powder
Coriander powder is derived from the seeds of the coriander plant. It adds a mild flavour and aroma to sweet and savoury food preparations. Most commonly, it is bought as whole dried seeds and ground as and when needed, but it can also be found as a readymade powder.
Coriander powder is extracted from coriander seeds. It generally comes in whole form but is also available in the powdered form. While to get it powdered at home, the seeds should first be roasted slightly and then should be ground to get the powdered form. They are used in the culinary world for their mild aromatic flavour with a tinge of spiciness. Coriander happens to be one of the most quaint herbs and spices on record, its very first mention is said to be in the bible. It derives its name from the Greek word ‘ koris’ that means a stink bug. As and as the Indian cuisine is gaining its popularity around the global corners, the very demand of Indian spices are glooming the horizon, streaming along that path, coriander happens to be one of those Indian spices that strikes high in demand, it is commonly used in the Indian kitchens. Apart from its significance in the culinary sanctum, it is also loaded with a multitude of health benefits. It happens to be popular in many parts of the world, say as Mexico, most of South Asia, and South Western parts of USA. Coriander seeds are usually plump and brown in colour, with a hollow cavity, which is filled with essential oils that adds into its flavour, and once it is powdered it still retains those oils.
